Peer Rope rules

Turku Shibari Peer Rope is a safer space.

  • This is a safer space for all genders, sexualities, abilities, backgrounds and switching. Don't assume others' identity or history. Racist, sexist, homophobic or other oppressive behavior is not ok. Please don’t assume things about others, let them tell you themselves.

  • Please respect the privacy of others, and someone possibly “being in the closet”. Don't talk about who you saw doing what at Peer Rope, unless you have asked and received permission to do that.

  • Please respect others’ personal space and boundaries. Don’t touch anyone or their belongings without permission. If you want to come and watch other people play, ask for permission first. Give people space when they are negotiating, playing and doing after care, so please wait for a suitable moment for asking. Remember to ask for permissions also from people you know. Everyone has the right to say no, and that will be respected.

  • Please don't tie or get tied under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or if you are too tired to think straight.

  • Clothing may be taken off while tying, but please keep your genitals covered.

  • Please give space for your own and others’ reactions. Tying and being tied can bring up strong emotions that may surface in surprising or strange ways, for instance as laughing out loud, crying or sounds of pain or pleasure. Don’t be alarmed, all feelings and reactions are valid.

  • If you wish to do suspensions, please discuss this with the volunteer staff beforehand.

  • Please take care of yourself and your fellow shibari enthusiasts. If something doesn't feel right, please speak up! If you see something that looks dangerous, contact a staff member.

Please note that some level of risk is always present in shibari. In the end everyone is responsible for their own bondage safety at Peer Rope.

  • Please don’t bring sugary liquids in open containers into the practice room due to the dance mat in the space.

  • Photography: Next, we will decide whether photography is allowed at Peer Rope today. If it is, all photos shall be taken so that they don’t show anyone else besides the model or models nor anyone's belongings, including in the mirrors.

Everyone has the right to voice their wish of no photos being taken in the space today, and this will be respected. In order to decide this, everyone except one of the organisers closes their eyes, and if you don’t want photos taken in this space, raise your hand on cue from the organiser.

  • Share knowledge and get inspired! 💓

Breaking the rules leads to: 1) a warning, if continued 2) removing the rule breaker from the space, if repeated 3) banning the rule breaker from the space.

The organizers of Turku Peer Rope have the right to change these rules between gatherings. Organizers also have the right to decide on any other rule breaking penalties than the mentioned if suitable when e.g. the subject of the wrongdoing asks for a different way of action.
